Family
The mark describes the person, not the link. Of the 9 relatives drawn here, 0 have a document of their own in this archive — but that is not the same as a document tying them to this person. This archive holds no separate proof for most parent–child links; where it does, the note above this chart says so in words.
Where this comes from
Tree only
everything here comes from the family tree, and is unverified.
Where this sits in the family
Not on the direct line. They are published because they belong to one of the eight surnames this archive follows.
The register spells this surname more than one way, and the search folds the forms together — so Xubrinich and Žubrinić, Joannis and Ivan, find each other.

Notes carried in the tree
Reproduced as written, minus the automated copy-reference boilerplate. These are what the family and other researchers put down, not what this archive has verified.
Theunis Botha has been placed under the relationship that existed between Ferdinandus Appel and Maria Kickers as their biological son. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE this relationship. Should you have any questions regarding this relationship please do not hesitate to contact me. There are several documented references about this relationship. At the time of Theunis' birth 2 women attested that he was not the biological son of Frederick Botha and with modern DNA profiling this has been confirmed. Please refer to the report by Jaco M Greeff and J Christoff Erasmus. "The First Fifty Year Project" which is an excellent website chronicling the 1st 50 years of the Cape of Good Hope settlement and compiled by Delia Robertson also has reference to this relationship. Furthermore, the posting of Theunis Botha under Ferdinandus Appel and Maria Kickers has been done in full acknowledgement of the role his stepfather, Frederick Botha, played in giving Theunis a name, home and upbringing. Thank you Denys Botha IMPORTANT he was not the natural son of Frederick Botha -- so correctly descendants are not DNA related to Botha -- Myself included - Phillipp Weyers 2023

Others of the same name
These parishes repeat their names relentlessly — 94 Marijas and 88 Ivans in this archive alone. These are different people, kept apart on purpose rather than merged into one. Merging on a name is exactly how this tree came to hold a man born after his own granddaughter.
