The Vrbnik baptisms for 1806, house 244, read: Die 14. Martii Ao 1806 baptizavi ego Michaël Kombol C.L. infantem lege natum patre Joanne, Matre Marthæ Antich Papa, nomine Josephum. The tree's date is exact. The entry also names his father Joannes (ahnentafel 48) and his mother Martha, and gives the godparents as the village judge Mathias Jellichich and his wife Margarita. The name Josephum
| The tree says | Josephum |
|---|---|
| The record says | Josephus — and the priest wrote the accusative himself |
The register reads nomine Josephum. That is the priest's own Latin, not a modern transcriber's slip: Michaël Kombol writes nomine followed by the accusative in every entry on the page — Mariam, Joannem, Matthæam, Magdalenam, Nicolaum. The tree copied the register faithfully and inherited its grammar. Read it →
He was not called “Josephum”
| The tree records | Josephum |
|---|---|
| Which is | the accusative of Josephus |
These registers are narrative Latin. A priest writing baptizavi Josephum — “I baptised Josephus” — is writing a case ending, and filius Josephi is “son of Josephus”. Transcribed literally, the ending becomes the name. In life this person was Josephus, or its Croatian form. All forty of them →

Family
The mark describes the person, not the link. Of the 5 relatives drawn here, 5 have a document of their own in this archive — but that is not the same as a document tying them to this person. This archive holds no separate proof for most parent–child links; where it does, the note above this chart says so in words.

Where this sits on the line
Ahnentafel 24 — generation 5 of Hedviga's descent. Every person's father is twice their own number and their mother twice plus one, so this person's parents are 48 and 49.
The register spells this surname more than one way, and the search folds the forms together — so Xubrinich and Žubrinić, Joannis and Ivan, find each other.
