Family
The mark describes the person, not the link. Of the 10 relatives drawn here, 0 have a document of their own in this archive — but that is not the same as a document tying them to this person. This archive holds no separate proof for most parent–child links; where it does, the note above this chart says so in words.
Where this comes from
Tree only
everything here comes from the family tree, and is unverified.
Where this sits in the family
Not on the direct line. They are published because they belong to one of the eight surnames this archive follows.
The register spells this surname more than one way, and the search folds the forms together — so Xubrinich and Žubrinić, Joannis and Ivan, find each other.

From there the first Pretorius pioneers started their trek to the unknown north. Months later the trek crossed the Vaal River, and on 12 September 1860 Matthys Wynand Pretorius and his wife, Magdalena Gerbrecht Pretorius, bought the farm 'Slangfontein' 121 (Registration number 343) in the deeds offic, Pretoria, 372 / 1 IR about 4000 morgen in size, on the banks of the Klip River, for 8 pounds. A large portion of this farm is presently known as Henley on Klip. This farm stretched from beyond the Klip River to the Meyerton border and east towards the Heidelberg Hills.' 'Apparently the name 'Slangfontein' originated from a story told by one of the grandsons of the Pretorius family, Cornelis Johannes Rudolf (Pretorius). 'Matthys Wynand Pretorius Senior died on 10 December 1892, and was buried in the family graveyard on the banks of the Klip River (premises of the St. Paul's Church). In accordance with his final will and testament, the farm was divided as follows: One third of the above farm was left to his daughter, Anna Johanna Magdalena Gerbrecht PRETORIUS, married to Cornelis Johannes PRETORIUS (1337 Morgen 488 Roods); One third to Matthys Wynand Pretorius , married to Susara Cecilia Brits (1337 Morgen 488 Roods); and the final third went to Johannes Lodewicus Pretorius, married to Martha Maria van der Westhuizen (1337 Morgen 488 Roods).
