What this page holds

The archive publishes 13 people of the name Orešković, the earliest born in 1796. 2 of them are direct ancestors of Hedviga, at ahnentafel 21, 42. A further 11 are read out of a parish register and not in the family tree at all; they are listed with the rest, marked parish register. Counts are of people who have died; anyone living is named on their own page and is not counted here. Every statement on this page is read off the archive’s own data, and the page adds no claim of its own.

What the registers say

4 readings attached to 4 of the people above, each in the citation’s own words, oldest first; an entry that names two of them is one reading. A reading marked named on is a register naming the person on somebody else’s entry, which is not the same as a register being about them.

1835 baptism-of-child Marcus Orešković Oreskovic Otočac, 8 Sep 1835, Dubrava 29 — "Marcus Oreskovich, adoptatus Sekula"
1835 baptism Maria Catharina Orešković Oreskovic Otočac, 8 Sep 1835, Dubrava 29 — her own baptism, the entry both her parents were already credited from: «Marcus Oreskovich, adoptatus Sekula» and «Lucia uxor ejus nata Sekula». The rule says a baptism counts for the child AND both parents; the parents had rows and the child did not
1846 named-on-a-child-baptism Helena Orešković «Graničar iz Šumećića Br. 10» — read earlier; the tree gives only «Otočac, Croatia»Named on Thomas Toma Žubrinić’s entry rather than their own.
1850 named-on-a-child-baptism Jele Oresković Otočac Rodjeni 1846-1858 — daughter of Mio (Michael) Žubrinić and Jele (Helena) Orešković, «e Šumećica N° 10». Where the name is an open question

A question on the archive’s own list that names Orešković. The open questions →

4d Which Maria Orešković, and was there a second wife? — NO SECOND WIFE, THREE MEN — answered
Answered 13 September 2026, from the tree's own structure. With the surname fold fixed — it had been excluding 63 Žubrinići — the question comes apart cleanly.

Ahnentafel 20's children are a coherent set: Nicolaus 1834 · Daniel 1837 · Francisca 1840 · Maria 1841. Four children in seven years at Otočac. That is one marriage, contracted about 1833, behaving exactly as a marriage should.

And the tree holds a second Michael — Michael Miho Michaël Žubrinić, married to Maria Marković, whose children are Theodorus 1841 · Josephus, 16 March 1845 · Marta 1849 · Magdalena 1852.

That is the entry this archive read. The Otočac baptism of 16 March 1845 — Michaël et Maria Žubrinić nata Marković, the one that made this question suspect a second wife — is his, and the tree has held him all along.

Everyone of the name

All 24 people this archive holds of the name, oldest first, in the shape the front page uses — the couple in two columns with a birthplace beside each name, the children beneath them, brothers and sisters under whichever of the two they belong to. Oldest first, which is the only order a family has, and everything is shut until you open it. The rows marked parish register are people read off a page that the family tree has never had; they are not less proved, they are just not typed in.

3 of the 11 married couples here have no child recorded under them. That is worth saying rather than hiding, because it is a fact about the family tree and not about the family. A couple reaches this archive childless when they were entered from one index hit and nobody went back for the baptisms — and the children most often missing are the ones who died small, who are exactly the children a register does record and an index does not.
